Home clincher for Yanks? The New York Yankees return home to the Bronx Wednesday night as they look to eliminate the Philadelphia Phillies at BroburySports.com.

Philadelphia fans are happy to be sending this series back to New York. The Phils extended it on Monday night with an 8-6 home win. Chase Utley got things going with a three-run homer in the first inning off A.J. Burnett.
The Yankees made a valiant comeback in the final innings, rallying from an 8-2 deficit, but fell just short. Alex Rodriguez has six RBI’s in the last three games and is ruining his reputation as postseason choker.
New York has to feel good knowing the final two games are at home. They also have CC Sabathia ready for a potential Game 7, although it would be on short rest again. Phillies ace pitcher, Cliff Lee is done as a starter, but could make a relief appearance in Game 7.
The Yanks desperately want to avoid going to seven games. A winner-take-all scenario would put the pressure squarely on them, and they still have nightmares of 2004 when Boston overcame a 3-0 series deficit in the ALCS.
Andy Pettitte also on short rest
Andy Pettitte is on the mound for New York and he’s one of the best postseason pitchers of all time. Pettitte closed out the Angels in Game 6 of the ALCS and got the win in Game 3 of this series, giving up four runs in six innings.
The 37 year-old Pettitte will be going on short rest for the first time since 2006. His record overall on three days rest is 4-6 with a 4.15 ERA.
Philadelphia will send Pedro Martinez to the mound for this mega-clash. He is on regular rest after losing Game 2 of the World Series in the Bronx. Martinez pitched great in that game, but came up a little short 3-1.
Martinez has often just failed at Yankee Stadium, even as a member of the Red Sox. The Phillies hope he can pitch six solid innings and that Pettitte is not as sharp due to fatigue. The Philly bats also have to score early to take some pressure off.
