The Yankees have finally got a pitcher that can help them win a pennant as Roger Clemens is returning to New York since leaving after the 2003 World Series loss to the Florida Marlins. Since Brian Cashman took over as general manager of the Yankees in 2000 the Yankees have not gone after high profile pitching help.
With the exception of Randy Johnson who's better days were behind him, the Yankees have put one of baseball's best line-ups on the field, but they just didn't have the pitching needed to win in the post season. New York still has problems on the mound as Mike Mussina and Andy Pettitte are ageing along with their 'new' addition Clemens. Ming-Wang off the disabled list is probably still their number 1 starter and Rivera has struggled in April this year. The summer interest in the Red Sox/Yankees bitter rivalry will heat up as the season progresses, espically after the way Boston has pounded New York so far this season.
