The Dallas Mavericks dominated the regular NBA season winning 67 games, but just couldn't get by the Golden State Warriors who had beaten Dallas three times this year without a loss and won three of four over the Mavs last year. Dallas' first problem started when former NBA Coach of the Year Avery Johnson made a line-up change before the series started, starting Devon George. This showed weakness, doubt or a lack of confidence on the Mavericks part, a team that should dictate to the rest of the league the style and tempo of play. Dirk Nitwitski pulled the same diappearing act this season that he pulled during the NBA Finals last year. Last season, in the middle of game 3 Shaq O'Neal pounded Dirk as he went to the basket, he never went to the hoop again prefering to take jump shots and abanding hios inside game. It was more of the same against the golden State Warriors as the pressure grew Nitwitski got farther away from the basket. Who knows what the Mavericks will do from here. The off-season will be filled with questions and doubt as to their ability to win in the playoffs.
