APPALACHIAN STATE +22.5 at LSU.
You may have to search a liittle to find this wager. It is available in Las Vegas at the Hilton and Luckys. Appalachian State is the three-time FCS defending champion and is coached by Jerry Moore who enters his 20th year with a 167-70 record. The Moutaineers are led by junior quarterback Armanti Edwards who directs the spread offense and led last year's upset of Michigan. I think Appalachian State gained confidence from that win and will relish a crack at the FBS champion LSU Tigers.
The big question mark for LSU is the quarterback position. It looks like Harvard transfer Andrew Hatch will make his first start for the Tigers with Jarrett Lee seeing some playing time. LSU lost some key members from last year's championship team (RB Hester, WR Doucet, and DT Dorsey) as well as defensive coordinator Bo Pelini.
The time for this game has been moved to 10am central time because of tropical storm Gustav. The time change should help Appalachian State because Tiger Stadium is an extremely tough place to play at night. I don't know if Appalachian State can pull off the upset two years in a row, but I think they can stay within three touchdowns.
