Winless Prop Bets
The Giants Are Nearly 10-1 To Go Winless

We all thought the Jets were going to be the winless team in the 2017 NFL season. Turn out we were close.

The New York Giants might as well rebrand themselves the New York Implosions. They’ve officially lost Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall for the season, and spent over a month trying to figure out who their top running-back actually is. And now, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has walked out on the team.

The star corner for the Giants, and arguably their best player now that Odell is hurt, had a talk with head coach Ben McAdoo and then left the facility. The Giants summarily suspended him, meaning that the decision for him to leave isn’t just a personal issue he’s dealing with. DRC is gone, folks.

Hilariously, this comes just days after fellow corner Eli Apple was demoted in the rotation in place of the nine-year-veteran and three days later that veteran just up and leaves the team. Apple told the media that he was used as a scapegoat in the loss to the Chargers.

So there’s nothing good going on here. Reading between the lines, there’s very obvious evidence that Ben McAdoo has completely lost the locker room. This should come as no surprise. He has no idea what he’s doing.

This is a perfect time to bring up the fact that there are three winless teams in the NFL right now, and you can get on which of them will remain winless. The list is below.

Winless NFL Team Prop Bets- per BetOnline.ag
San Francisco 49ers (Yes +1200 / No -2500)
Cleveland Browns (Yes +800 / No -1500
New York Giants (Yes +950 / -1800)

As you can tell, the angle here is pretty strong on “Yes” no matter which team you want to pick. I mean, you’re not going to risk so much as to pay off your mortgage here, but betting against a downtrodden team can be super fun. And no team right now is showing less spirit than the hapless New York Giants.

Nothing the Giants have been doing is going well. They are one of the worst offensive teams with just 16.4 points per game (28th) against 24.4 points allowed (24th). The only bright spot is their passing game, which averaged 248.6 yards per game through five weeks and ranked 10th overall. That’s surely to take a hit now that their best receiver is undrafted rookie Roger Lewis.

Defensively the Giants haven’t really been able to stop anyone. Melvin Gordon ran through and around them all day long on Sunday, as has every other team in the NFL. Their 363.8 total yards allowed on defence is the 26th worst in the NFL, and they’ve only offset this with three measly turnovers.

And now, McAdoo and Eli Manning don’t even have legitimate star power on the roster to keep them afloat. It’s an absolute dumpster fire.

This is one of those things that actually happens quite often. McAdoo was great as an offensive play caller, overhauling a Giants offence that was in the dumps back in 2014 in to one of the more exciting scoring offenses. That’s because of McAdoo’s west coast offence, which is branded all his own.

McAdoo remains the man calling the shots, but as a head coach he’s in charge of so much more. And it’s obvious he can’t handle it. Listen, this isn’t a shot against McAdoo as a coach overall, it’s more specifically pointed at his abilities as a personality manager.

Being a head coach is not the same thing as being a coordinator. The scope is much broader, and the stakes are intensely more volatile. The fact that McAdoo hasn’t relinquished play calling duties on offense speaks to his workload and there are so many other plates to spin when you’re the big boss. Ask Josh McDaniels, Joe Philbin, Norv Turner and Ken Wisenhunt.

It’s obvious that the Giants are going from “bad” to “terrible” in a hurry. If you’re going to bet on any team sinking further in to the tank, it’s the Giants. The Browns are turning to a more capable starter in Kevin Hogan, and the 49ers have been in slug fights. As we saw in the Week 1 stinker, everything the Giants do is predicated on Odell being in the lineup.

So why not take a flier on the Giants to go winless this season at +950? It pays out way more than any reasonable, divisional prop bet. Amongst the three, they’re the most enjoyable to cheer against. Hell, half of McAdoo’s roster is already rooting against him.
